Observation details

The moment that Birders with an active Need-for-India alerts have been waiting for is finally here! After 3 near-misses (with a high 75% probable suspects), on the same day at the same spot, at 9.35pm, this call of the Jerdon's Courser in a three-repetition sequence was recorded on 24th August 2025, confirming the presence of the bird. A day later, we again heard a four-repetition call around 9pm which did not get recorded on the phone mic. All 5 suspect sightings/ confirmed calls were about 200m apart. Read about the adventure here: https://harryfication.wordpress.com/2025/09/04/dream-come-true-jerdons-courser-discovered-outside-lankamalla-after-125-years-on-the-first-day-of-our-trip/ Note: Location of the sighting is within Kadapa district. This is a dummy location. Hate to do this, but for a Critically Endangered bird found after decades, and in an isolated tiny patch of land, this is the only way out for now.
