Media notes
The Jack Snipe is visible in a small clearing in the lower right-hand 1/3rd of the shot, though still very difficult to spot. The gold braces are just about the same color as the grass.
Observation details
Nearly annual on St. Paul (missed last year) but still very rare for North America. Flushed a foot or two away from me on the west side of Pumphouse Lake. Called in Luis, Evan, and Frank and we popped it a couple more times. Incredibly on our last sweep in sparse vegetation, Luis eagle-eye spotted it on the ground. No thermal used. Probably only the second time one has been seen on the ground in North America.
