Observation details
Edit: eBird advised house vs rare Italian. Original: While other sparrows are more common, this bird had a strong white supercilium, and two white wing coverlet bars, brighter and bigger than house sparrows I’ve seen in US. One across shoulder, but the other in the next wingset was on the interior edge: light brown, dark brown, brown, dark brown, white. Spanish sparrow eyebrow seems browner and lacks the second wing bar? Have two decent photos of side view but can’t see beak or legs clearly. The pair of birds made a sparrowish chirp from a tree alongside St Stephen plaza, but it was too loud in the main square for Merlin to hear. Happy to revise to hybrid, Spanish, or house etc., if I get more expert advice.
