Observation details
Awesome find by Eric. Large shorebird seen for the entire length of the checklist. Adult coming out of breeding plumage. Standing horizontally yet upright. Small head and plump body. It took multiple short naps between feedings. Obviously exhausted from its trans pacific flight. I never saw the bird raise its wings. Bill slightly longer than head, slender and dark gray. It had a light brown head, nape. Some lighter tones to its face and neck. Its mantle and wings were slightly darker brown. Its back feathers were rather large and with a white lining which distinguished each feather nicely. Seemingly, “loose” primary and back feathers that blew around in the breeze. Its belly was white with a few large black spots. White under tail coverts. It had tall orange legs. Photos
