Observation details
Discovered around 0815 along Erie Ave at the lighthouse. Last observed 835 on the corner of Lighthouse Crst and Erie. Make. Details forthcoming. Long Point’s first! #407 Found on LPBO’s daily census around 0815 directly at the driveway to the Old Cut Lighthouse on Erie Blvd. I watch the bird for a few minutes working its way through the tops of Scott’s Pine. Loosely associating with a mixed flock of ~30 warblers dominated by BBWA and CMWA. Flock was moving west, but TOWA not as eager to move. Last observed around 835 on the corner of Lighthouse Crst and Erie. Other observers say it as late at 1000 farther west, but never farther than Old Cut BLvd. Description: Small ‘BTNW-type’ warbler. Generally small and short stature. White underneath was obviously different from BTNW I’m used to and the lack of yellow in the flanks and vent area apparent. Light black streaking. The tail was black with outer white webbing to exterior rectrices. Black centres to some under tail coverts. Back greenish-gray leading up over the green head. Face had a prominent yellow eye line, black facial patch, and yellowish throat and upper breast. Slight smudge of black in the lower throat area. Wash of yellow in the upper breast. Wings largely gray with two distinct white wing bars. Looks to be a young male.
