Observation details
At first I spotted eight together on a wire. Then watched a group come to a small puddle to bathe. Brewer’s blackbirds also at the puddle. While I tried getting some photos (from across the street sitting in my car to use it as a blind), I noticed several more fly in to forage on the the nearby lawn. More and more came in, the group actively foraging. I don’t think I have ever seen this many cowbirds together in the same spot. Eventually there were so many (and with many individuals walking, hopping, or flying short distances) that I generated a count estimate by scanning and counting how many groups of ten there appeared to be. Not realistic to count individually. Area seen was near corner of Astro Drive and Mercury Drive.
