Observation details
Seen at about 5:10 pm. First seen fly slowly over the estuary area. Notice first as a mid sized long winged and body falcon not flapping rapidly. Narrow dark moustacial mark bisecting a white face which extended from the chin/throat well towards the nape. Front of bird streaked and darker from upper throat to lower belly. Under-tail coverts light and rusty. Back of bird was a gray/brown tone, nares and eye ring bright yellow. Also seen by Brad Meiklejohn and Wendi. On the second pass the Hobby sailed well into the wind, flapping infrequently then perched in cottonwoods above the bluff. At this point Brad took a poor quality iphone digiscope photo of it which will be included.
I have experience with the Hobby in the past having seen it in Japan numerous times.
