Observation details
Clearly a Swainson’s Thrush with buffy wash across breast spots and a buffy eye ring. What struck me immediately was the color of the upper parts. They were dark olive brown with none of the russet tones of our local SWTH population. I am very familiar with Olive-backed Swainson’s Thrush from years of living in the Midwest, plus seeing them on their breeding grounds in NE Oregon and Washington and seeing fall migrants in Texas. I recognized the bird as this form immediately. I took some cell phone video that captures the color. The bird was only 20 yards away in neutral light.
