Observation details

Male. Seen and photographed by Debbie Barton. Rather remarkable impression in the first picture that the bird might be an Evening Grosbeak. The pattern around the head and wings seems consistent and the hue is suggestive of yellow on the breast. Yet in the next picture, the bird is clearly a Black-headed Grosbeak, which is by far the more expected species, especially at this time of year. Apparent first Eastland County record, at least based on eBird data.
