Observation details
Found by Bev Agler. Juvenile birds and rather bright "golden" in color on back, scapulars, crown and fringes of tertials; wing tips extended well beyond tip of tail. Long primary projection with four primary feather tips visible beyond tertials; rather bright and distinctive supercillium (fits for American) which does appear a bit buffy in my photos (more a Pacific character?). Gray underneath; very dark auricular area. I did read that all four primary feather tips should be evenly spaced. These birds showed the outermost feather tips very close together relative to the inner two tips. Reviewing photos in eBird, a number of supposedly American Golden-Plover pictures showed this same feather. Photos attached.
