Observation details
Occupied nest was discovered the preceding day: one adult (female?) was sitting on the nest and another bird (male?) was perched on nearby limb. Returned on this date to document with photographs this late season nesting which may indicate re-nesting following an earlier failed attempt or possibly double-brooding. Double-brooding has been reported for this species (see Briskie, J. V., and S. G. Sealy. 1987. Polygyny and double-brooding in the Least Flycatcher. The Wilson Bulletin 92(3):492-494). Sitting bird appeared to be incubating as no food delivery and feeding behavior were observed during both of my visits.
