Observation details

While scanning a small group of shorebirds, I located a single Ruff foraging alongside one Long-billed Dowitcher. The Ruff was stocky with a small head, pale orange legs, and a medium-length slightly downcurved bill, orange at the base, dark at the tip. Upperparts were heavily mottled with black, brown, and buff, creating a scaled effect; underparts mostly pale with light breast streaking.
