Observation details
Adult. Moult has started on breast and head, as is typical at this time of year. Underparts with narrow bars, some now worn and missing, creating big areas on flanks without any bars. Some bars showed adjacent terminal white that still remained. Breast side showed dark "spur" of bars, again typical of Long-billed. Scapulars now missing white tips due to wear, but colourful markings more brick red than yellowish-orange. Darker patterning than on Short-billed Dowitcher. Extensive colour on underparts.
