Observation details
Changed from peep sp. to Red Knot x White-rumped Sandpiper after the option was added in the 2025 taxonomy update. Hybrid Calidris which appears to be Red Knot x White-rumped Sandpiper. First impression from a distance was White-rumped Sandpiper, but with a closer view aspects of the plumage were clearly wrong and recalled Red Knot (the barred rump especially, plus the scapular pattern, wide arrow shaped markings on chest/flanks, faint pattern on the underwing). Size and structure also appeared intermediate between the two species, being roughly the size of a Sanderling or slightly larger but somewhat sleek and more attenuated toward the rear.
