Media notes

calls from birds flying out of freshwater ponds in which they had been drinking and bathing; shortened at 0:17, as 8-10 birds called on leaving the bathing freshwater; shortened at 1:05, more calls from more birds departing the ponds; shortened at 1:23; loudest, cleanest typical calls after 1:32; Mongolian Gull in the background is just once and faint;

Observation details

all a. p. adults; apparently nesting. at least a few on the salt flats at the south end based on birds sitting in depressions, but mostly just adults standing around (which is lovely, but apart from a very few fights. there was little activity including little calling); birds regularly came to drink and bathe in the freshwater ponds; 230 A.C. by Trevor Ellery, to which I am adding a few more for foraging birds off camp area; likely total could be 300+;
