Media notes
This binaural recording starts at about 5:45am at the "Group Campsite" area at Acadia NP's Seawall Campground which is west of Loop C. The landscape drops precipitously downhill (perhaps by 15-20ft) from the in Loop C. (a wall and stairs are partly reinforced with granite stone which likely enhances the accoustic reflection). The one-sided-bowl-like shape creates interesting acoustics -- and the sounds reflect, bounce around, amplify and echo. Background sounds include surf from Acadia's natural seawall, are distant lobster boats and bell buoys and navigational horns. Note: the Seawall Campground is not open to the public at this time of year, and was accessed via a NPS research permit.
