Observation details
Totally unexpected! I was standing down near the river above the dam hoping to photograph waxwings and goldfinches, and kept hearing what sounded like an Acadian Flycatcher singing across the river and in the woods beside the upper parking lot. I got closer and confirmed the song up close, and then was able to get great photos. This is my first time finding and seeing one in MA, and this seems like an odd spot for one compared to other options nearby that are much more shaded and typical habitat. The bird never left this piece of woods just south of the main overlook parking area. I placed the pin exactly where he was actively singing, and was often low and at the edge of the woods.
