Observation details
Continuing - many times back and forth to nest with bugs for three chicks (short, pin-like feathers visible on crowns). Better pictures this time, but still mostly back lit. Based on James Rieman's July 15 nest image (large bills on chicks) and Darrell Vollert's notes from earlier today (dark masks visible), we must consider the Kingbird chicks might be pure Gray Kingbirds and not hybrids. Perhaps the male died after mating and the female flew a long way with stored sperm, while delaying egg laying.
