Observation details
When I got out of the car, I almost immediately saw a flock of Black-bellied Whistling-Duck on the grass field south of the pond. I walked around the pond to get closer to them; as I did, additional ducks flew up from near the south edge of the pond and landed with the rest, bringing the total to 15 birds. Unmistakable: bright bubble-gum-pink feet and bills (though the color doesn't show up in the photo, taken with my flip-phone's camera). The birds were fairly approachable: I was able to get to within about 100 ft of the flock, and then they only moved slowly away, maintaining that distance but not taking to flight.
