Observation details

First heard this bird in the distance while kayaking. (I’m quite familiar with this species from doing various bird surveys in MB, including BBS. ) I paddled closer to shore and used the Merlin app which immediately also suggested red-eyed vireo. Last year, 2024, I also heard and then saw, with binoculars, the vireo on several mornings over the course of two weeks in this same general area. So I feel with 100% certainty that the bird I heard this morning was a red-eyed vireo. Will attempt to upload the Merlin recording from this morning.
