Observation details
Photos. At the pool behind the roped off Least Tern nesting beach, around (33.5289,-79.0403). Like Common Tern but with long, mostly black bill with dark red base. Long white tail streamers. Why did Rose eat a tern? Edit: I’m confused because there are only 5 accepted records of Roseate Tern in SC that I know of, yet eBird only calls this species infrequent for this place and time. Maybe there are many unreported/unreviewed? I have little experience with IRL terns and mostly looked at Macaulay Library photos for info. Also, there may have been up to 3 individuals. Image 1 to 3 are the same bird but I don’t know if image 4 includes that bird.
