Observation details
Rare, but at a known summer (breeding?) location. Greenish yellow underneath from throat to vent. Head marks like Warbling Vireo but strong dark line at lores. Line through eye was thicker and darker than Warbling. More compact, smaller, more yellow, and shorter tail than REVI. Foraging behavior more warbler-like than REVI, with frequent jumps between branches. I've included 4 recordings that are somewhat noisy due to highway noise and noise from the transformer at the base of the tree. Song was softer and more hesitant than REVI, with fewer phrases per second than REVI. One phrase, given occasionally, was longer than typical for REVI; I wonder if this is diagnostic. One bird was seen foraging while another sang nearby, so a pair. Note that both this species and REVI are singing at this location, so it’s important to confirm visually. The pair was about 300 yards southwest of the main base lodge.
