Observation details
Continuing in the vicinity of marker 4. Went to marker 4 and didn't see the bird. Moved to marker 5 and looked there to no avail. As I was going back to marker 4 I looked left and there the bird was sitting just a few feet in front of me perched on top of a bunch of sticks(pictured in checklist media). Flew back into the marsh the moment I saw it. Went to the open area and looked for it and never found it. "God it's right there and I can't even see it. Pathetic" I thought to myself. Except that it wasn't--I looked on the other side of the path next to the field and there the bird was in the watery ditch over there. Maybe it'd been angling to go over there when I came upon it the first time and went through with it after I passed and it had space to do so. Bird foraged there for probably 15 mins before eventually flying back across the path near the sticks where I originally saw it perched. Couldn't find it again. I'd say maybe try staying behind marker 4 and seeing if it will move over to the other side? Cause when it does that you don't have to worry about the lilypads/phrags.
