Observation details
A well-established flock of peafowl was less than a block from the park. The story (from my lawyer bro-in-law) is that the weird farm up hill from that park had had the peafowl, but they are no longer contained there and a lawsuit brought by the city to force the farmer to reclaim his birds was lost -- the birds were declared "wild". Note that a 2017 Texas Wildlife News article online refers to a population of 70 -- supposedly descended from a pair brought to Midland in 1980. See photos
