Observation details

They were present in different groups in large number. I had made two videos of groups which are in range. From videos and photographs i had roughly counted them. Also roughly counted those who are at large distance by using 8 by 40 nickon binacular. From last few years we are visiting this dam couple of times each year. We have also observed this much large no of common pochard for first time. From last 3 to 4 years ours is a drought area with around 70℅ of expected rain. So many of other water bodies were dry during winter. But Nagapur dam was the only waterbody having adequate water , food source and suitable conditions for birds to colonies. This might be the reason for gathering of them at Nagapur dam. At this site one bank of dam is at nearly 30 feet high , so can comfortabley observe the activities of birds.
