Observation details

***Rare in western New York. First found yesterday, and located today by Phil Mills. The bird was south of the east end of Owens Road high in the trees above a flooded woodlot. Unmistakable long-legged, stout-billed Night-Heron with black head, white cheek, creamy yellow crown, grayish body, blackish and silvery upperparts. The bird was nearly motionless the entire time I watched it.
