Observation details
Well seen, heard, and photographed. More boldly patterned than the more subdued coloration of the adult Clapper Rails. Heavily tawny (orangish/brown) colored neck and chest, along with darker patterns in the center of the feathers on the back, whitish patch on throat. Additional diagnostic field marks included bold scalloping pattern of feathering of flanks which extended underneath and dark/rust colored face, which is a contrast to the lighter/gray facial coloring of the Clapper Rail.
