Observation details

These showed just before we were going to leave. At first we had just a pair and then a third showed up, and then 2 more materialized. One may have been a recently fledged youngster as it kept approaching one of the other individuals and begged with quivering wings and begging calls (recorded). But we could be very confirm it had an enlarged gape or pink onsite to the maxilla. The group was busy, foraging both among tree branches, and on the ground. They retrieving cached food items from cracks in the wood and lichen, both crustose and hanging old man’s beard. We watched them for 10-15 minutes before they melted back into the forest. Our sixth day in a row seeing this species!
