Observation details
Continuing. First spotted by Katy Shirley this morning. Thanks to Katy for sending out the alert. A single shore bird in breeding plumage seen on the banks feeding nearby Canada Geese. We observed it in NW corner of reservoir. Similar to Marbled Godwit, but ruled out Marbled Godwit for the following reasons: - bill was more decurved compared to Marbled Godwit - coloration of the bill was about 50/50 dark light compared with Marbled Godwit having larger percentage of light coloring to the bill - neck was grey instead of the buffy color found on Marbled Godwit - breast and flanks were tawny/rufous compared to buffy color of Marbled Godwit Also ruled out both Bar-tailed Godwit and Black-tailed Godwit due to range and coloration. Photos attached.
