Observation details

Fantastic experience. Three separate males heard singing in three different directions simultaneously!!! Eventually tracked down one individual that we followed along his route for nearly an hour. All could be heard while standing at the intersection of Concow Rd. & Rim Rd. moving perches frequently, singing a few phrases from the tops of burnt snags, then making short flights and singing from new perches. I am wondering now if these birds have been present over the last 1-3 years, but have been missed because I typically don't start coming up here until late May. Impossible to know! Difficult to articulate how meaningful and thrilling this find is for those of us that have been birding Butte County extensively over the last couple decades. Credit to Stuart for getting up here early in the season and making this discovery!
