Observation details

Heard calling over a prolonged period of time on the middle island. Low, clear pip calls given, and gave agitated "pip-pweer" calls in response to Alder playback, same as those described in the Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds. Very uncooperative for photos but had brief view of Empidonax flycatcher flitting around low in brush. The vocalisations rule out all other flycatchers. Audio attached.
