Observation details
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/nf.birds/cGO5yBCLD5c | Uploaded September 5, 2015 by Alvan Buckley. It was there today 26 Nov. I did the 745 km round trip drive (detours included). Pounding rain and driving wind during the morning at St Lawrence but the feeder was very active with 50+ goldfinches, 30 House Sparrows. chickadees, a few juncos and five times during the 2 1/2 hours that I was there the White-breasted Nuthatch came in. I was surprised at the sparseness of the trees in the neighbourhood. It is not an easy place for a nuthatch to live but the abundance of food put out by Lillian should keep it fat for weeks to come. CBC TV was there and got some shots of the bird through a wet window. It might or might not make the news in the days to come. OTHER BIRDING Arnolds Cove low tide, excellent bird activity. Impressive numbers of Black Ducks. Nothing unexpected - 2 Mallards, 1 Eurasian Wigeon, 20 Black-headed Gulls. ( no sign of the usual wintering male Gadwall). Bellevue Beach low tide. 14 Black-headed Gulls, 3 adult Bonaparte's Gulls, 1 adult Common Gull, 2 Black-bellied Plovers, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper. B Mactavish
