Observation details
See photos taken by John Garbutt on April 5th. The bird is apparently a hybrid between a northern pintail and a northern shoveler. The plumage has a blending of the characteristics of the males of each species. The bill predominantly black but has a small amount of pale blue at the base. The bill is quite spatulate, but not nearly as much as a northern shoveler. The legs and feet are yellowish.
