Observation details
Thanks to Robert and Katy for finding and notifying local birders about this bird. Continuing. Small cormorant seen both in flight and alongside a Double-crested Cormorant in the water. In flight, the head and neck in front of the wings were equal in size to the tail behind the wings, making the bird balanced looking. This compared to a Double-crested Cormorant in flight where the head and neck appear longer than the tail. On the water, ruled out a second Double-crested Cormorant due to: being smaller in size, and having a V shaped gular pouch that is pale yellow brown and outlined in white (see photos). Gular pouch on the Double-crested Cormorant in the photo is larger and rounder. See photos attached.
