Observation details
Seen for the first time on this tree which is frequented by several other species. The Blue-throated Barbet is seen all of a sudden, perched on a branch of the tree for a minute and then flies away displaying its vibrant colors. The plumage is bright green with a blue throat. It has a conspicuous red crown and black lateral crown. Importantly, the forehead is bright red. There is a white bar between the red forehead and red crown. It has a heavy pale-based bill. As distinctly seen in the photograph, it has a bright red patch by the side of the throat.
