Media notes

What is considered the lone Horned Screamer known from Guyana was calling almost continuously from a great distance out into a flooded marsh entirely entangled with small trees, shrubs and leafy vines; near Nappi Village. Too distant for good recording. Background includes a singing Striped Cuckoo. Recorded with a Zoom-F3, using a Wildtronics MicroMic XLR Microphone in a Wildtronics Pro Mini Parabola.

Observation details

access with permission of, and guide from, Nappi Village; the only one known in Guyana; heard giving low. two-note calls, no full song; perched on top of 2 and 3 meter viney little trees and bushes next to a marsh with no open water (dry season); recordings, photos;

Additional species

  • Striped Cuckoo Tapera naevia
