Observation details
You aren't looking hard enough if you haven't seen a Laughing Gull in South Jersey during the summer, so passing them off all the time comes with a lot of interesting missed opportunities. Lately, we've been seeing Laughing Gulls at the Higbee dike pirating Cicadas from passing Cicada Killer Wasps taking their prey over the canal to the burrows the wasps dig in the ground. Very interesting and humorous to see Laughing Gulls committing to their own "Morning Flight" waiting up top of the dike for a Cicada Killer Wasp with a Cicada in tow before a heavy, exerted flight to chase and eat the bugs that "fly" by!
