Observation details

Medium-sized gull with flock at creek mouth outlet onto beach. All black bill with slight gonydeal bulge. Distinct broad white eye-ring, incomplete anteriorly. Gray head posterior and crown, mostly white anteriorly. Extensive gray hind and sides of neck. Mostly gray upper wing, mottled below. Narrow white trailing edge; increasingly dark primaries to black, without spots. Tail with broad distal black band. Dark legs.
