Observation details
New yardbird. A White-winged Dove visited our yard this afternoon. Thanks to Ryan Merrill for very quickly responding to my emailed photo. He wrote that it looks like this should end up being the 14th in Washington and first in Yakima County. It fed on the ground and on my feeders, drank from the bird play park, then flew up into the Sycamore. It didn't appear spooked by me watching and taking photos through the window from about 15 feet away. The first visit lasted about 15 minutes. It has dropped back down to feed several times since. Four birdwatcher friends have come over and been able to see it. One, with a much nicer camera, also got photos. If you're thinking of coming by to try to see it -- birds in our back yard flush when people come down the driveway or look over the back yard fence. Knock at the front door. I'll let you through the house to look out the back window. I think the ABA Code of Birding Ethics should be practiced, not just posted about then violated. I continue to try to discourage five local Yakima County listers from trespassing, harassing sensitive and threatened birds, being discourteous to residents with rare bird visitors, arguing against giving credit for rare bird finds, taking credit for other's finds, encouraging others to follow suit, and being dishonest. Denny Granstrand responds to my efforts by falsely accusing me and by blocking me from BirdYak. So he and the other four must stay off our property. Thank you to all the bird watchers and listers who are considerate. Please always consider the sensitivity of birds, nearby humans, and the environment. Don't lie & Deny to try to cover up your bird listing misdeeds & mistakes. Locals who do are a continuing disgrace -- like the occupiers of Malheur and the White House. Don't trespass on Yakama land while chasing owls around in a field; don't trespass on Yakama Nation Closed Land; don't take credit for others' finds; don't trespass on Priest Rapids Dam or on Martinez Livestock private property or closed areas in the Yakima Training Center military area; don't claim a Red-necked Phalarope is a Red Phalarope; during your Big Day -- don't illegally harass a Spotted Owl or quiz me about my recent rare bird sighting; don't change your eBird locations to try to cover up your trespassing; don't try to get others to adopt or to excuse your illegal and unethical bird listing practices, or to believe your lies. Please read, PRACTICE, and promote the ABA Code of Birding Ethics. Whistle blower
