Observation details
Two adults and one juvenile observed today at rest mixed in with this large number of Canada Geese. Poor quality distant photo in poor light attached. While it is impossible to be certain this trio may well be the same three birds that I photographed one-half mile away on Lake Gibson on 11 December 2024 (see photo). They have been seen regularly since on the same lake. On 3 August 2024 I photographed two adults with a recently born cygnet along the shoreline of: you guessed it, the same Lake Gibson (see photo). What are the chances these three birds are the one and same three individuals in each case above. Unfortunately we will never know for certain!! This species should no longer be deemed to be "rare for this area." They have been seen regularly year around for over the past fifteen if not more years.
