Observation details
Continuing bird from yesterday, crazy to me that it was found at all amid the Laughing Gulls. It’s apparently hanging out relatively reliably in the same place, in the shallow pools with white tarps on the east edge of the property, in the northernmost cell. Very similar to Bonaparte’s in look and structure, about the same size as Laughing. First year bird, very pale above, with a dark carpal bar, trailing edge of the wing, thin black band at the tail tip, dark ear spot, and grayish band connecting between the eyes over the crown. Orangey-pink legs and bill base, with a dusky dark tip to the bill. Being casually bullied through the whole time observing by the Laughing Gulls, pushing it around and pecking at it, forcing it to walk away and seek a place to preen. Thank you to the Steinbergs for finding it, and to Amar Ayyash for hanging around and helping me get to the right place.
