Single individual calling on a foggy winter night near Gobardhana range forest
Observation details
Call heard , suspect species is this one, confirmed by me and other respected birders as well ,a single individual calling on a foggy winter night I was firstly unaware of the species,my Targets were to obtain the recordings of savanna and Large tailed nightjars along with some forest Owl species ,I was waiting near Gobardhana tourist Complex(3 to 5 kms )when i heard a sound like fast nightjar call behind the complex in riverine Grassland and the sound became more closer when nightjar approached the area ,but due to fog and a very low quality torch I was unable to click it ,just obtained a single mobile recording in hurry which i cut the recording into two parts for skipping some sounds of local people that were with me at tourist complex stall. When i came back to home ,i started checking calls of all nightjars in north India and the Gray nightjar looked well matching with my call recordings.Same recording was also confirmed in Bird identification group on Facebook . Indeed a rare sighting for me ,as i realised later on. Thank you
