Observation details
Awesome birds. 2 pair seen in the morning. First spotted by CWalk in fruiting tree, and we got awesome looks. Really good looks at the second pair farther up the road as well. Large toucans, mostly black bill with a reddish/maroon base to the upper mandible, otherwise just a cornucopia of colors but not in an extravagant or flamboyant color palette. Black head with bright white throat, blue/yellow orbital ring, bronzy upperparts, blue-gray underparts with maroon flank patch and bright red vent, lime yellow rump, and long thin black tail with chestnut tip. Eating fruits, would toss them up in the air a little from the tip of the bill and catch them and swallow them. Heard the call and the bill rattle, got a recording of the bill rattle.
