Observation details
field signs point much more strongly to Tundra than Taiga. Relatively thick, not especially elegant neck. Bill didn't look slim and elongated in any way. the base of the beak is vertical not having the upper incoming recess, the distance from the top of the beak to its base is just a bit longer than the distance from the base to the eye ( should be much longer for Taiga). The coloration of the oil and shape of upper wing coverts are constant with an adult bird.
