Observation details

Definite Tyrannus kingbird, with yellow chest but clear white neck, no white on tail at rest or in flight. T. melancholicus was eliminated once it took flight with a squealing call that instantly and definitively registered on the Merlin app of one of our party’s smart phones as T. couchii. The bird can be heard vocalizing at 4:02, and 4:23-4:32 on the recording. Photo by D. Henderson; audio recording by T. Young
