NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 13. Bulk reel: 166 Weather: Fair. 203 tape. a) This is a continuation from Cut 12. It is now ~ 20' later, no further playback. In the first part the song seems to be of the male; it stops singing and there are some calls, apparently between the pair, then a bird sings again: this seems as if it could be of the female, but is probably male by the phrasing. cf. c) first part. b) Now, after playback again. Quality: 1-. Level: 0. Song by male; then the pair is heard but (there was much traffic interference) the major song is by presumed male, in focus. Quality: 1. Level: +3. c) Right after playback again. Quality: 1. Level: +3. Then, right after more playback, the presumed male sings the female song (female heard in background) but then changes to male song. Quality: 1. Level: +3. Then, after the presumed male had been collected, song by the presumed female. At places it sounds as if two birds might be present but I think i t's only one. Quality: 2 to 1. Level: +3. The bird collected proved to be a male, as I had presumed; it was prepared as a skeleton #144.
