Observation details
Continuing Female or First-winter bird. Small thrush with scaly under and upperparts as compared to plain back of F Siberian Thrush, no white supercillium as compared to the bold white supercillium in F Siberian Thrush. Distinctive cream colored crescent behind ear and white stripe running from the throat to upper breast. Pink/bone colored base of bill suggests perhaps a younger bird. Shy and secretive, foraging and moving about inconspicuously in the mid-lower understory of dense hillside forest habitat at approx 600m asl, close to disturbed ground due to a landslide and road repair works. Calls: repeated single zing notes ~ 5-7kHz with periodic 2-3 rapid ticks, recorded. At one point, chased off 2 Bulbuls which flew into its tree.
