Observation details
One Canada Goose appeared to be almost half the size of the regular geese. Similar coloring and the head showed a gradual slope to the bill rather than a steep one and the bill was similar shape and not stubby. It stayed in the water while most geese were on land and did not approach those in the water for direct size comparison. From a distance I thought it was a possible Cackling but the size was not quite small enough and the head features did not confirm. I favored a Lesser but have limited experience with this subspecies in Alaska. Photo TBA
