Observation details
Continuing *MEGA* Rarity at this location. Observed on the fishing pier at about 7:30 AM. Immature Caracara with white wing panels that didn't extend to the tips of the primaries. Primaries tips were black. Bird had a white vent as well. It had a dark face with a light-colored bill. It had a dark appearing head, mantle and wing coverts. Observed with Swarovski 10x40 Swarovision EL Binoculars at a fair distance (100 yards). So, finer plumaged details were not seen through binoculars but can be seen in attached photographs. Lighting was poor but fairly even due to heavy overcast from rain showers that were moving through the area. The common and expected Crested Caracara was eliminated due to the dark appearing head and due to the primary tips being black with the white wing panel in the wrist area being enclosed by black.
