Observation details
1st Jaeger - very distant, noisy photos cropped just shy of disintegration: -bulky, with appearance of broad-based wings - bill looks bigger -streaked nape and broad, messy breast band - almost entirely dark-headed as opposed to having a cap, - 1st distant view of outer parts suggests a long tail, other views it disappears, almost looks like there is point. -no obvious primary covert wing flash but overall gestalt to me says Pomarine. Flight less acrobatic, more like direct stalking and never actually caught up to the tern, though a Heerman's did. 2nd Jaeger - similar but more distant views of a bulky, more steady-flying jaeger. Similar challenges to identifiable features- paler jaeger, more contrast/cap appearance than first tbd, tail extending out but never got an angle to determine shape. Note that in the upper left is the "sp" jaeger passing the opposite direction. I was so focused on trying to figure out who was who through the bins that I didn't get usable pix but there is a size and flight style difference. More on that under the "sp" details.
